The Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences comprises of three departments: The
Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the Department of Mathematics
and the Department of Physics. In all there are 30 faculty members working in
these three departments, seven of them having Ph.D. degrees from leading
universities in industrialized countries. They have specializations in topology,
image processing, networks, software engineering, numerical analysis,
mathematical modeling and computer simulation, radiation physics and solar
energy and computational fluid dynamics. The Department of Computer Science and
Engineering offers a four-year BS programme in computer science. Presently the
other two departments of the faculty cater to the mathematics and physics course
requirements of the other faculties and constituent components of the
university. The Departments of Mathematics of the faculty has just launched an
MS course in Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing
