Breast Feeding Week at FMC

Breast Milk is the best food, for the baby. Breast feeding week is organized annually from 1 to 7 August in more than 120 countries. It is promoted worldwide by the WABA (World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action), WHO (World Health Organization) and UNICEF (United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) to acquire the goal of exclusive breastfeeding for first six months which yields tremendous health benefits, providing critical nutrients, protection from lethal diseases such as pneumonia, diarrhea, malnutrition and many more.

Department of Community Medicine, Fazaia Medical College organized a poster competition on 03rd August 2017 among medical students to create awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding. It was a step to sensitize the future doctors from the very start of their carrier about most economical way of controlling dreadful diseases from the community. The students of 1st year MBBS made the event memorable one with their full participation and devotions under the guidance of their respective mentors. In last, Dr. Rukhsana Khan (Head of the department of Community Medicine) appreciated the efforts of the faculty, staff and students to make the event successful and effective in raising awareness about Exclusive Breast Feeding.
