Activities
  The University arranges occasional educational visits to other eminent institutions of the country and places of general interest. Recently, two separate groups of students from the Faculty of Engineering and Administrative Sciences visited LUMS, UET Lahore, GIKI, American University of Dubai and SZABIST Dubai to observe their educational activities and student life there. Excursion cum study trips were made to Hattar Factory, Pakistan Tobacco Company and Kalabagh Base
  On September 11, 2007, Air University achieved a major milestone, when it held its first convocation. The ceremony, held at the Jinnah Convention Center, Islamabad, was presided over by the Chancellor of the University, Chairman Higher Education Commission, Dr. Atta ur Rehman. Chairman Board of Governors, Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Tanvir M. Ahmed was the Chief Guest.
The convocation was attended by members of the Board of Governors, distinguished personalities from academia, public and private sector organizations, graduating students and their parents.
A total of 464 students from 18 different classes were awarded degrees. Students with top grades were also awarded gold medals. The biggest graduating group was from the Faculty of Engineering, which awarded bachelors and masters degrees to 253 students in various engineering disciplines. Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences awarded Software Engineering and Computer Science degrees to 113 students. There were 98 students from the Faculty of Administrative Sciences who earned BBA and MBA degrees
The university is planning to hold its second convocation during next academic year (2009-10).
  Air University encourages its students and faculty members to arrange seminars and workshops. Each department participates enthusiastically in these activities in which eminent scholars and leaders are invited to share their experiences with the faculty and students.
  Students arrange social, cultural and sporting events during the semester and holidays. Musical concerts are very popular and several of these have been successfully organized and conducted by the students. While the University provides the guidance and resources, the students are encouraged to organize these events by themselves.
  Air University encourages its students to participate in sports to enable them to develop physically as well as mentally. Facilities for both outdoor and indoor games are available. Competitive events like inter-department, inter-university sports and galas are held annually and students keenly participate in competitions in hockey, cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, athletics, tug-of-war, basketball etc. AU students have also participated in sports activities of other universities and won laurels for the university.
  Every year, final year students from Faculty of Engineering display their Final Projects for industry representatives, academia and media.
The Project Exhibition serves many purposes. The graduating students get instant feedback from senior level engineers from the industry. The industry finds out not only about the skills of graduating students but also the facilities Air University offers to its students and the level of expertise with faculty. The main objective of Project Exhibition is the interaction of students with the industry representatives.
  A Career Fair is held each year for the currently enrolled students, as well as for graduates (Alumni), of the University. The Career Fair is attended by major national and multinational organizations including industry, banks, Information Technology organizations etc.
This Career Fair not only provides an opportunity to the students and graduates of the University to explore the employment possibilities with reputable firms, but also gives first hand knowledge and information to the organizations about the University, its programmes, its facilities and its faculty.
  The Faculty of Social Sciences regularly publishes a student’s newsletter called “In the Air”. Two issues are produced in each semester that cover student activities, guest lectures and various contests. A faculty member and an outstanding student are interviewed for each issue. This newsletter also features articles on current issues of national and international significance.
