ORIC has self-adopted its mandate to enhance the environment for all research activities and scholarship schemes by:
- 1. Developing the university’s strategic research directions and policies.
- 2. Increasing and diversifying external research funding.
- 3. Improving integration of research and education at all levels of the university.
- 4. Transforming research into useful products for public benefit.
- 5. Strengthening university-industry relationships.
- 6. Nurturing entrepreneurship, technology-transfer and commercialization for sustainable economic development.
- 7. Stimulating and augmenting cross-cutting and multi-disciplinary research initiatives
- 8. Modeling incentives and awards schemes for valued research and publications.
- 9. Drafting intellectual property policy of AU
Purpose
- 1. Identify research opportunities for faculty members
- 2. Facilitate faculty to apply for research grants
- 3. Legal, administrative and financial management support of research grants
- 4. Contribution towards economic growth through research and innovation
- 5. Support commercialization and licensing of the university research products
- 6. Develop public-private partnership for mutual benefit
- 7. Liaison with national and international research institutes
- 8. Promotion of the research culture amongst students and faculty
- 9. Bridge the gap between Industry and academia for joint research projects
- 10. Upscale the research publications in impact factor journals
- 11. Liaison with national and international research funding agencies
- 12. Patent filing, scrutiny and fulfilling other legalities in the matter
- 13. Identifying opportunities of collaborations with national and international academia
- 14. Creating University-Industry linkages
- 15. Establishment of Research and Business Incubation Center
