Air University Tax Awareness Society have successfully conducted a seminar at Air University in collaboration with Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The “Tax Structure in Pakistan" event, held on March 26, 2024 at AU Main Auditorium, aimed to educate and engage the public on the intricacies of Pakistan's tax system. The event, hosted by Air University Tax Awareness Society, targeted students, young professionals, and individuals seeking a better understanding of their tax obligations.
The event featured a keynote address by the esteemed Secretary PR, FBR, Muhammad Alam Zaib Khan who delivered a highly interactive session on the current tax structure in Pakistan. His insights provided valuable information on various tax components and their impact on the economy.
The seminar aimed to achieve multiple objectives: raising tax awareness, promoting civic responsibility, instilling fiscal literacy, facilitating collaboration between Air University and the FBR, providing internship opportunities for students, and offering industry exposure through a visit to the FBR head office.

This Friday, on 15 March 2024, the Aviation Society embarked on a unique and thrilling adventure to capture the excitement of the Pakistan Air Force 23rd March rehearsals.
The aviation enthusiasts were treated to stunning displays of fighter formations of F-16s, J-10Cs, and Mirages, complemented by the dazzling aerobatic maneuvers of the K-8 Sherdil Team.
As enthusiasts of aviation, the goal was simple: to skillfully document these awe-inspiring moments. With each snap of their cameras, they aimed to preserve the essence of flight --- the exhilarating rush, the powerful engine roars, and the sheer beauty of aircraft in motion.
Their mission wasn't just about spotting planes; it was about honoring the skill and dedication of our Air Force while sharing the magic of aviation with everyone through their cameras.

A seminar was arranged at the Management Studies Department at AUSOM by Mrs. Ameena Zafar. Ms Zubia Zubair was the resource person. The topic was ‘Breaking the Stigma: Addressing mental health challenges in the corporate world’.

On March 7, 2024, the Aviation Society (AUSOM) organized an educational trip for 70 BSAvM students to the Directorate General, Research and Development Establishment (DGRDE), located in Rawalpindi.
DGRDE was formed, aiming to foster self-reliance in defence production through indigenization. Over the past, 50 years, DGRDE has produced over 250 defence related items ranging from simulators, night vision technology, weaponry, and vehicle structures, catering to the needs of both, the Tri-Services and private sectors.
This visit aimed to enhance students' understanding of defence production and technological advancements with Business Research Methodology.
The visit encompassed a detailed presentation highlighting DGRDE's key operations, followed by an engaging Q&A session. The comprehensive tour demonstrated various DGRDE initiatives. The students expressed a strong interest in potential internship opportunities. Overall, the visit provided a comprehensive understanding of DGRDE's working environment and project management. It highlighted DGRDE's operational and managerial aspects.

Department of Management Studies hosted a seminar today on "Role of Technology in Financial Innovation". Mr. Shoaib Akmal, CEO Tekrowe Digital - US Based IT solution provider - was guest speaker and talked about technological advancements happening in the field of Finance. He also shared his experience with respect to catering needs of his clients through IT based solutions, especially related to Finance. The session was enthusiastically attended by Accounting and Finance students with a strong urge for understanding developments in financial landscape driven by technologies including AI, Machine and Deep Learning, Cloud and DeFi. The session was facilitated by our Faculty Member Mr. Jawad Zahid.

On 1st March 2024, AirTech-24 was held at AU Islamabad after a gap of four long years due to COVID. Designed to be the largest Technical Olympiad of Pakistan, it encourages practical implementation of Engineering & Applied Sciences through a variety of events.
For AUSOM, 1st March was a great day as the Aviation Society took the initiative to be a part of it for the very first time ever, by orchestrating an Inter-University AERO-MIND CHALLENGE (Aviation Quiz Competition). Some 30 BSAvM students from AU Kamra, NUML and AUSOM joined the intellectual fray. The competition was tough, and a final year student from AU Kamra ended up being the WINNER, pocketing the Prize Money of Rs 10,000.
The enthusiasm displayed by all the students was not only a testament to the success of the event but also an indication of their keen interest in engaging in similar activities in the future.

On February 20, 2024, Aviation Society (AUSOM) arranged an educational visit for 70 BSAvM students to College of Aviation Safety Management (CASM), located at Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Base, Nur Khan.
CASM, established in 1948, is an ISO certified premier institution of PAF, accredited to HEC and PCAA, and dedicated to promoting excellence in Aviation Safety. Over and above the inland clients, till date it has trained over 900 officers from 29 foreign countries around the world. Being a constituent college of AU, it offers various courses to our BSAvM students as well.
The visit included a presentation by the Registrar, followed by a visit to various training workshops.
The students showed keen interest in attending various courses at CASM as that would not only add value to their degree but also help them in their future job hunt.

BSAF Students Visited Murree Brewery Company. The representatives from production, Quality control, packaging, Sales and Marketing, Human Resources, Finance & Accounts, and the Administration Department give them briefings regarding their functions. Industrial trips offer invaluable practical insights for students by bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.

A seminar was conducted by AUSOM at the AUSOM Auditorium. Mr. Mujeeb Zahur (MD S&P Global ) was the main speaker. His expertise and experience in the financial industry brought a unique perspective to the seminar, offering students and faculty alike a deeper understanding of global markets, financial trends, and the importance of data analytics in decision-making.

Mr. Jibran Khan a student of BSAVM-5, received the Best Actors Award at the University Olympiad arranged by the University of Lahore, Lahore. Distinguished universities from across Pakistan, including notable institutions like NCA, UMT, and NUST, participated in the event. The competition witnessed the engagement of over 60 talented actors.

At the UOL Olympiad 4.0, Team MAP MAVENS from Air University won the winner Award in the THE HUNT category with their outstanding performance. Afsah Sohail, Areeba Sohail and Numaira Nadeem are a notable participant from BSHCM-8, received the best Hunt participants award. The competition is between 15 teams from different universities, and they have to find at least 10 clues to win.

Airport Manager informed of latest trends in aviation and assured students that he will support them in acquiring Internships as well as FYP at Islamabad.

The seminar of Diabetes Management was arranged by Ms. Novera Ejaz the program manager of BS Healthcare Management. The seminar was arranged for the students of BSHCM with regards to the diabetes awareness month. The esteemed speaker for the seminar was Dr. Madeeha Nazar. She is a diabetologist and has established and is running the Diabetes and Foot clinic in Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi. The seminar included the topic regarding Diabetes and its management. The types of diabetes and their differences were explained. It was also discussed that disease is not just common in aged people but is also increasing in the younger generation due to their diet. At the end there was a question answer session in which students actively participated after there was a camp arranged for blood glucose levels tests arranged for students as well.

Equity markets provide one of the most efficient investment opportunities. Consistent with this purview and to instill an entrepreneurial approach in the students representatives from Arif Habib Securities (ARS) were invited to acquaint the students about account opening and stock exchange trading. The students participated keenly in the session and requested the ARS team to advise them regarding investments in the equity market. The ARS team exchanged the numbers with the students and pledged their assistance to students in selecting the right time and securities for the optimization of investment outcomes.

Today the students of BSTHM-I and VII along with Dr. Suhaib Aamir participated in the Eco Hike on Trail 5 organized by PTDC to celebrate the International Mountain Day. The event was attended by Tourism Minister Sayad Wasi Ahmad Fatimi.
