Assalam-o-Alaikum,
Welcome to the Department of Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering at Air University. I am thrilled and honored to begin serving as the chair of one of the top Mechatronics and recently established Biomedical Engineering department in Pakistan!
Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering provide a true blend of mechanical engineering, electronics, and computer programming. Both Mechatronics and Biomedical are interdisciplinary engineering fields comprising of design and development of smart Electromechanical as well as biomedical systems for industry and medical health care professionals.
Department of Mechatronics Engineering which started back in 2003 is now offering BE, MS and PhD programs. With vision and synergy, our talented faculty has been combining industrial insights and advanced engineering technologies to address unmet industrial challenges. In 2019, after getting the green signal from Pakistan Engineering Council to start BS program in Biomedical Engineering we are committed to provide the best quality education and hands on experience in the field of Biomedical Engineering as well.
We, at the Department of Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering, are shaping tomorrow’s leaders who will address the grand challenges that lie ahead in the industry. Our brilliant and talented students are learning to solve complex, real-world problems. After graduation, our students are being placed in highly reputable graduate, and industry positions. We are expecting our biomedical graduates to achieve the very same level of excellence after four years of their studies. To achieve this excellence, our students will seek assistance and benefit from the existing faculty and lab infrastructure of Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering, Fazaia Medical College (FMC) and recently established state of the art Fazaia Hospital to get the know how about clinical practices and research relevant to Biomedical Engineering.
Our department is a perfect representation of teamwork and innovation. Students are shaping their own futures through innovation and entrepreneurship. We strictly believe in individual and collaborative research in all inter-disciplinary fields of engineering. Our dedicated faculty always strives to seek funding both locally and internationally. Last year, our Department was awarded a national lab to design and test MEMS devices under National Center for Robotics and Automation (NCRA) besides a number of HEC and local industry sponsored technology development projects in the area of MEMS, Industrial Automation, Energy, Biorobotics and Biomedical Instrumentation. Our Department aspires to be the leading center of academic education, training and research in mechatronics and biomedical engineering in the country and aims to provide engineers who can think, operate and innovate changes in inter-disciplinary technology environments, with the very best. This inspires me, as I elieve that a diverse team and an inclusive community can merge together to generate exceptional results.
As chair of the Department, I wish to enhance the interdisciplinary research and education opportunities, by paving the way towards increased industrial interactions, and to work with our greatest resources – our students, faculty, staff, and alumni – to catalyze our influence on the world stage.
I welcome all students, faculty members, staff, alumni and parents to reach out to me. Together, InshaAllah, we shall work towards deepening our impact and engagement, and broadening our circle of influence in the best manner possible.
Best regards,
Dr. Noman Naseer
