Epsilon was the flagship event of Air University Math Society which was conducted on 1st March 2023. It compromised of competitions, puzzles, and activities that require basic mathematical knowledge, logic reasoning and problem-solving skills to win. Epsilon was a two-stage event where there was an indoor session and an outdoor session.
Indoor activities were held in AUSOM Auditorium. These included challenges like Math Riddles, Speed Math, Memory Hack , and Guess the Mathematical Symbol. These challenges were designed to invoke the mathematical prowess of participants and improve their mental math capabilities. Students who engaged in activities and performed well were given gift hampers and special prizes by AU Math Society.
Epsilon’s outdoor activities were a booming success among students. These events included: Math Maze, Sudoku Challenge, Chess Competition, Whisper Challenge, Jenga, Arranging the Sticks Challenge, and Time Value Challenge. These events were extremely innovative and beseeched unparalleled attention of passersby’s. Participants were invited to think quick on their toes, brainstorm logical solutions, and perform mathematically to ace these challenges. AU Math Society had a variety of gifts in store for winning participants of the challenges.
Aside from stalls, outdoor activities included the most awaited Pirate Hunt – The Math Themed Scavenger Hunt. The clues were two months in the making and definitely left the teams clueless on what would be the next clue. Puns aside, the teams registered for the event scurried around the university for their next clue. The event saw massive success and keeping in tradition of AU Math Society, the winner were given gifts for each member of the team.
The event helped increase awareness about the importance of math and its application in daily life, it encouraged students to develop an interest in math and inculcated problem solving and logical reasoning skills by engaging them in activities. These activities helped improve mental math capabilities of participants with exciting and insightful indoor activities, and to think quickly in mathematical and logical terms and make decisions based on those facts.
